Philippine Independence Day – Revolution or Evolution?

June 12, 1898 traditionally marked the declaration of the independence of the Philippines from the Spaniards. It is when Andres Bonifacio led the revolution with the Katipuneros.

Over the years, various perspectives have shed more significance to this special day. For instance last year, the country commemorated Lapu Lapu as the first Filipino hero who defeated Magellan during the battle of Mactan. The celebration highlighted this battle against Spanish colonization as a defining moment in Filipino patriotism.

In addition, this day has seemingly evolved towards becoming a spiritual bond among Filipinos. Such a bond arguably transformed and awaked Filipinos’ consciousness. It has become a symbol of heroic rebirth through sacrifice and death – something that mostly-Catholic Filipinos may recognize especially during Holy Week.

One trend seems prevalent. As we transform from colonial-mindedness to more nationalistic pride, Philippine Independence Day marks a revolution that is evolving as a day of recognizing Filipino heroes. An evolutionary revolution perhaps.

Let’s celebrate the modern-day heroes this 2022!

Speaking of heroes,  we would like to acknowledge the heroes that live among us everyday. At Carlo Pacific, we pay tribute to the global Filipino community who have had to leave the comforts of home in search for better opportunities. We honor those who are making their way, in hopes to one day, give back in their own little way to the motherland. Their sacrifices go back many generations and the dominant resounding value Filipinos around the world have is that indomitable grit and determination.

We also recognize hardworking Filipino entrepreneurs in the Philippines and all over the world.  Your desire to do well in spite of life’s many challenges is to be admired. Something seen less and less in businesses, our people-friendly and caring culture are natural fits for customer-centric ventures.  More power to your heroic efforts.

At Carlo Pacific and Forex|eShip, the spirit of bayanihan is at the core of our business.  Therefore, we take pride in helping Overseas Filipino Workers, immigrants and entrepreneurs become more successful through our services. This Independence Day, we celebrate you and express our many thanks for your efforts to make the world a better place. You are our heroes.
